Kaden relaxing after a hard poop!

Kaden relaxing after a hard poop!

Well life around the Bodey household is definitely more interesting. Kaden is now two weeks old. He is quite the eater and pooper, doing both about every two hours or so, sometimes more! Makes for very LONG nights. His one week checkup went well. He was up to 8lbs, surpassing his birth weight and not needing to supplement formula like his big brother.  He has a small ‘V’ at the top of his bottom that had the doctor a bit worried about an unformed spine. But after a ultrasound, everything checked out great, he just has a ‘V’. The doc also informed us that since his cord was wrapped around his neck (twice) and tied in a knot, that it is indicative of down-syndrome. However, Kaden does not have any of the typical down-syndrome signs: lethargic, non-movement, slacked face, so we (including the doc) are not worried about this one.

Gavin is doing well. He loves being a big brother, not being able to go to bed until he has kissed Kaden goodnight. He had his 18

month (can you belive it…a year and a half ALREADY!) checkup. He is up to 33″ long and 26lbs. He is a “solid” kid as my Grandmother would say. He is having a bit of trouble coping with all the changes that have been happening, throwing tantrums and not wanting to eat. But it is nothing we cant handle. Gavin has talking up a storm though and will mimick just about every word that he hears, so we have to be careful what we say! ;-) His favorite words so far are “choo-choo”,  “more”, “no”, and “asper” (our dog, Jasper). He is starting to say “brother” at times and definatly “mama” and “dada”. Steph and I got an “18 month test” from the doctor to determine how far along your

child should be and I must say Gavin could do everything on the list and then some. His fine motor control is by far his best, being able to use forks and spoons with ease (as well as climb and jump). He is definatly lacking in the social category however. He is VERY shy around new people, taking around an hour to warm up to them. This includes kids. But Steph and I were both shy as kids, heck I still am.
Steph and I are doing alright, as well as can be expected. She is still recovering from the c-section, and a bit bummed that she cant pick up Gavin yet. Kaden is still keeping us up at night, but that is to be expected. Stephanie’s Mom stayed the first week after Kaden was born and was a TREMENDOUS help! I think we would have pulled out all our hair if she wasn’t here.  I went back to work that first week while she was here and took off the second week to help out. I go back to work next week, so we will see how Steph does caring for two!

I added more pictures to Kadens Gallery. Check em out when you get a chance.
