Our little man!
I want to apologize to everyone…I have been a bit lapse on my updating of the website with new news. Steph and I have our hands full with our little one year old. My how time flies, only seems like yesterday he was born and now he is running around. Yes, my son is now running…not just walking. Well, I guess its more of a fast walk, but for an infant he’s quick! He is growing too, 30.5 in. tall (75%) and 21.8 lbs (25%) Gavin has taken to eating real food now including whole milk. His favorites are chicken and peas. He comes and goes with his vegetables, some days liking carrots and green beans and others not wanting to touch them. He is EXTREMELY curious about everything, pointing at everything and waiting for a response from Mom or Dad about what it is. He has learned where his dirty diapers and trash go although sometimes it takes a bit of cohersion to get him to leave the diaper or trash in there! Since he was born, Steph and I have been trying to teach him some basic sign language: Milk, food, more, please and the ever popular poop. So far he recognizes food and milk, but he hasnt repeated the motions himself. Just last week, Gavin started doing “more” to indicate he wants food, but usually he uses it in the correct context. At least he is trying! However, he has also started crying when he dosent get what he wants. It dosent last long, but its enough…

Our little alien
As for Steph, she is doing well. The pregnancy is coming along nicely. Steph had the first official ultrasound on the 12th. The baby is about 16 - 17 weeks along and ~7oz. Steph is feeling this one a bit earlier than the other one. The radiologist tech said the baby measures at 17 weeks old except for the legs, which are at 16 weeks. Steph says the “official” age of the baby is 16 weeks so either we have a REALLY big kid or a regulare size kid with shorter legs…only time will tell. Ok this is the time in the post where those of you who dont like surprises need to go look else-where…

Our little boy!
It seems like only yesterday you can sreaming into this world. Such a tiny little boy and now your walking all over the place, pointing at everything and wanting to know everything around you! Happy 1st birthday my son!
He has had two birthday parties, thee first one was with all his friends, Cassie, Joey, Tony, and Nicolas. The second was with family. Thanks for all the presents and gifts! He has played with them all! He still not sure about the un-wrapping of the presents, but I think it was mainly due to the amount of people around. He was getting distracted! The biggest hit thus far: his pull behind helicopter! He like being able to walk and pull the helicopter along behind him!
Added his pictures from his birthday. You can click on the link on the left side of the main page or www.thebodeys.com/photogallery/Gavins1stBirthday/index.html

Well we have had another exciting week. Nothing to do with the weather this time…but mainly with Gavin. Two Thursdays ago, Gavin started running a fever of 102F. We would give him Tylenol and it would go down and come back up. By Friday evening (actually Saturday morning at 2am) his temperature was up to 104, so we took him to Childrens Medical Center. Ended up that he had an ear infection, so the doc prescribed Amoxicillan. After one day of taking the drug he was starting to feel better. He slept rather well with the Tylenol, only waking up around 4am each day. However that Monday, he broke out in a rash and was REALLY itchy! Steph took him to the pediatrician who told her he is allergic to Ammoxicillan…great!
So we spent the next few days giving him Benadryl and Oatmeal baths, which really seemed to help! His rash is all gone now thankfully! He has retained the “wake up a 4am routine” this week which has been very annoying, but hopefully we can break him of that soon. Mommy and Daddy need thier sleep!
Since then, Gavin is crawling everywhere and has learned to climb up and down stairs. Its SO cute to watch! He is getting very good at going up, but is still a little nervous about going down. Wont be long until he starts walking, if he can ever get over the fear of walking on his own.

What a week it has been. For those of you who havent heard, Ohio was hit by “Hurricane” Ike…meaning we got a LOT of wind, but no water. The winds around Dayton were around 60mph, knocking over trees and powerlines. Most areas lost power, ours was out for 2 1/2 days. Mom and Dads was only out for around 4 hours or so. Stephanie and Gavin spend the night at Grandma and Grandpa Bodeys house on Monday. The night temperature was a little cold and we were not sure when we would get power. So they stayed up there and I went to work on Tuesday.
Southern Ohio was hit the hardest, some areas still dont have any power a week later. To add to the problem, the power company sent 3/4 of their electricians to Texas to help restore power there. So the surrounding states sent in thier electricians to help out in Ohio. I want to thank the electric companies though: the Dayton area had over 300,000 homes without electricity and by Wednesday that number was down around 94k and quickly dropping. Considering the widespread amount of damage that occured, this is a spectacular feat. I have heard many people complaining about how much time it took to get thier power restored, but I was out during the storm watching the winds tear through trees, knocking over a tree into my car. The amount of down trees was tremendous and that it took ONLY two days to restore more than half of the power is AWSOME. I know that some areas still dont have power, but all things considered this was an amazing feat. Thanks to all the workers who put in 16 hour days and only had an 8hour break until they went back in.
Other than that, I think Gavin has the sniffles. He has been a bit more fussy this week, sleeping more and crying without any warning. Its nothing horrible, just new. He has cut a few more teeth, now up to 5 teeth: 2 on the bottom and 3 on the top. 2 of the teeth on the top at his canines, meaning he has fangs! The little bloodsucker! Grandma Bodey made a pot roast earlier this week and Gavin LOVED it! He gobbled up the pork like we are starving him. Since then, he has eaten homemade chicken and noodles, macaroni and cheese and hotdogs. He is definatly quite an eater which is surprising that he is in the 10th percentile for weight.
I have posted new Gavin pictures here. Including his 7 - 8th month pictures.

Yes, Gavin is 9 MONTHS OLD! My how quickly time flies. It seems like just yesterday we took him home from the hospital. The doc said everything is looking good. Gavin is 28.5 inches long (50%) and 17.6lbs (10%). Since his weight was so low, the doctor wanted to supplement his daily feeding with formula to help put some of the weight back on. So he gets 12oz of formula a day now.
Physically, Gavin is crawling and climbing like a mad man. He is starting to let go of things and stand on his own. But as soon as he realizes that he is standing by himself, he sits back down. He is using Mommy and Daddy as stepping stools to get onto the couch and chair to get into everything, so we have to watch what we put on the end tables. We dont think it will be much longer and he will be walking. Hopefully I will have his 8 month pictures up this weekend, so you call all get your Gavin fix!
